PHILADELPHIA, Pa.- Caldwell University women's volleyball senior
Gabrielle Bennett (San Antonio, Texas) tallied her 2,000th career assist in the Cougars 3-2 loss to Holy Family University in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference match.
The Cougars fall to 14-5 overall and 9-2 in the CACC, while the Tigers improve to 13-8 and 8-3 in conference play.
Holy Family took the opening set 25-21, but Caldwell evened the match with a 25-14 win in set two. The Tigers took the third set 25-22, but the Cougars forced a deciding set with a 25-18 set four win. Holy Family trailed for most of the fifth set but rallied late to take the match 19-17.
Bennett joined the Caldwell record book as she recorded her 2,000th assist in the third set. She totaled 25 assists and finished the match with 2,013 career assists and is second on the all-time list in the rally scoring era.
Senior
Katrina Janssen (Seville, Australia) led the way with 21 kills, 14 digs and nine total blocks (three solo). Senior
Taryn Auyong (Honolulu, Hawaii) totaled 12 kills, three aces and 13 digs, while freshman
Chloe Kissner (Seabrook, Texas) tossed in eight kills, four blocks (three solo) and seven digs.
Bennett added 11 digs in the match, while junior
Jordan Hoffman (Colorado Springs, Colo.) chipped in 20 assists. Senior
Jessica Mitchell (Plainfield, Ill.) posted 22 digs. Sophomore
Kathleen Compagno (Orland Park, Ill.) finished with seven kills and five blocks (one solo), while sophomore
Avery Stanechewski (Tampa, Fla.) netted four kills and four blocks (one solo).
The Cougars host Concordia College on Tuesday, October 17 at 7 pm at the Newman Center in a CACC match-up.
