BLOOMSBURG, Pa.- The Caldwell University men's soccer team came up short to Bloomsburg University 3-2 in overtime in a non-conference tilt.
The Cougars fall to 5-8-1 overall, while the Huskies improve to 2-8-0.
The teams battled through a scoreless first half as the Huskies held a 12-8 shot advantage.
The scoring picked up in the second half as Bloomsburg got on the board in the 50th minute. Caldwell answered as sophomore
Tobias Block (AAhus, Sweden) tied the score off an assist from freshman
Alessdandro Canino (Parma, Italy).
The Huskies pushed ahead 2-1 with a goal in the 78th minute. The Cougars rallied back in the 82nd minute as freshman
Mateo Cobos (Newark, N.J.) netted his first goal of the season off an assist from junior
Kyle Hill (New Milford, N.J.).
Both teams had scoring chances over the final nine minutes of regulation but the game headed to overtime. The Huskies tallied the game-winner in the 96th minute.
Senior
Fritz Meister (Flaach, Switzerland) got the start in goal and recorded seven saves in 78 minutes in net. Sophomore
Anthony Tirri (Colonia, N.J.) totaled two saves in 17 minutes in net.
The Cougars travel to Concordia College on Tuesday, October 17 for a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference match at 3 pm.
