CALDWELL, N.J.- Caldwell University men's basketball junior
Derek Dorn (New Rochelle, N.Y.) tallied 20 points as the Cougars outlasted Chestnut Hill College 73-62 in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference action.
The Cougars improve to 10-6 overall and 5-3 in the CACC, while the Griffins fall to 4-11 and 1-7 in conference play.
Caldwell got off to a quick start as they pulled ahead 11-3 to start the game. Freshman
Zay Jennings (Allentown, Pa.) drained a triple, while freshman
Ruud Lutterman (Gorinchem, Netherlands) added a dunk and two free throws for the Cougars.
Chestnut Hull rallied to pull even at 11 and took a three-point lead at 21-18 with 8:26 to play in the half. Caldwell used a 12-1 run to retake the lead and pull ahead by eight points. Dorn hit a pair from the free throw line, while freshman

AJ Kittles (Glassboro, N.J.) each connected on triples to push the Caldwell lead to 30-22. The Griffins rallied late as they connected on a triple as time expired to trail 32-30 at halftime.
Dorn drained a trifecta to start the second half to help the Cougars extend their lead. Jennings added two free throws and a fast-break hoop to put Caldwell up 39-32 with 16:48 left in the game.
Chestnut Hill rallied back as they retook the lead at 43-41 with 14:10 left in the game. Caldwell answered with a 12-1 run to go back in front by nine points. Jennings drained a pair from downtown, while Covington capped the run with four free throws to put Caldwell ahead 53-44 with 9:38 left in the game.
The Griffins trimmed the score down to one point at 56-55 but Caldwell answered late in the game. The Cougars extended their lead to double digits with under a minute to play in the game. Dorn totaled six free throws in the final four and half minutes along with a three-pointer, while Covington hit two at the line in the final minute to seal the victory.

The Cougars return to action on Saturday, January 14 as they travel to Wilmington University for a CACC clash at 3 pm.
