ROCKVILLE, CENTRE, N.Y.- The Caldwell University men's soccer team notched an early goal but fell in overtime to the Molloy College Lions in a non-conference match. The Cougars fall to 1-2-0, while the Lions improve to 1-1-0 on the season.
The Cougars took advantage of a Lions miscue in the 29th minute as they got an own goal to take a 1-0 lead in the first half.
Caldwell held a lead into the second half until Molloy netted the equalizer in the 65th minute. Both teams had a couple of shots late in regulation to break the tie but
The teams headed to overtime where the Lions got a penalty kick on the 95th minute to take the win.
Sophomore
Tom Yorston (Northamptonshire, United Kingdom) took four shots, while senior
Jakub Havlak (Prague, Czech Republic) and freshman
Luca Caccoittolo (Boonton, N.J.) each attempted two. The Cougars held the advantage in corner kicks 5-1.
In net, junior
Fritz Meister (Flaach, Switzerland) recorded six saves in the loss.
The Cougars open Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference play as they head to Philadelphia University on Saturday, September 10 for a 2:30 match against the Rams.
