CALDWELL, N.J.- Sophomore Emily Valerian (Roseland, N.J.) chipped home the game-winning goal in overtime to help lead the Caldwell University women's soccer team to a thrilling 2-1 win against Wilmington University in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference action.

The Cougars push their win streak to four as they improve to 4-3-2 overall and 4-1 in the CACC, while the Wildcats drop to 4-3-0 overall and 3-1 in conference play.
Caldwell controlled the tempo throughout much of the first half as the teams combined for five shots in a scoreless first half.

Wilmington broke through in the 53^rd minute as they took a 1-0 lead. The Cougars answered later in the second half as junior Shelagh Kerrisk (Keansburg, N.J.) passed to freshman Meghan Grundhauser (Easton, Pa.) who found the back of the net to even the score.

The Cougars had a pair of late corner kicks and a free kick from about 30 yards out but the score stayed even at 1-1 as the teams headed to overtime.

In the extra period, senior goalie Kylie Whalen (Hazlet, N.J.) posted a key save in the first minute to preserve the tie to set up the Cougars for late heroics.

The Cougars offense created an opportunity late in the first overtime. Valerian attempted a cross from just outside the 18 box that was deflected by the goalkeeper. Valerian got the deflection and chipped in over the goalkeeper and trickled in to life the Cougars to the victory.

In net, Whalen tallied five saves in the win.

Caldwell travels to Old Westbury, NY as they take on NYIT in a non-conference clash at 4 pm
