Women’s Soccer Holds Off Felician; Push Win Streak to Three

CALDWELL, N.J.- Sophomore Carlyn Salus (Pompton Lakes, N.J.) netted two early goals as the Caldwell University women's soccer team held off a late rally to defeat the Felician University Golden Falcons 3-2 in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference action.

The Cougars extend their win streak to three as they improve to 3-3-1 overall and 3-1-0 in the CACC. The Golden Falcons fall to 1-5-0 and 0-3-0 in conference play.
Caldwell got on the board with two early goals as Salus found the back of the net twice in the first 15 minutes. Salus put the Cougars in the lead in the eight minute off an assist by sophomore Jessica LaConde (Huntington Beach, Calif.).

Senior Delaney Boyer (Freehold, N.J.) and LaConde set up Salus for her second goal of the game in the 13th minute of play. Felician got on the board three minutes later to cut the score to 2-1 and that remained the score heading into halftime.

The Cougars extended their lead to a two goal advantage just over a minute into the second half as Boyer hammered in a goal off an assist from sophomore Emily Valerian (Roseland, N.J.). Felician sliced the down as they scored in the 66th minute for a 3-2 Caldwell lead. The Cougars played solid defense down the stretch as they held on for a one goal victory.
