Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Escudero Goal Proves to Be Difference as Men’s Soccer Downs Bloomfield

BLOOMFIELD, N.J.- Sophomore Joaquin Escudero (San Sebastian, Spain) booted in the lone goal of the game as the Caldwell University men's soccer team remained unbeaten in conference play with a 1-0 victory against Bloomfield College.

The Cougars improve to 4-2-1 overall and extend their unbeaten streak in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference play at 3-0-1. The Bears fall to 2-4-0 and 1-2-0 in conference play.

The teams battled through a scoreless opening half as the Bears held the edge in shots 7-6. Caldwell had a pair of opportunities late in the opening half but a pair of saves by Bloomfield goalie Wilson Cisneros preserved a scoreless first half.

Caldwell finally broke the tie in the 71st minute as Escudero netted the go-ahead goal to put the Cougars in the lead.

The Bears pressed the offense over the final 20 minutes of play as they totaled five shots. Junior goalie Fritz Meister (Flaach, Switzerland) came up with two clutch saves to uphold the lead and maintain the shutout.

Meister finished with nine saves in 90 minutes of play.

The Cougars host Wilmington University on Saturday, September 24 in a CACC clash at 1:30 pm at Caldwell Field.
