CALDWELL, N.J.- The Caldwell University women's soccer team earned their first conference win of the season as they blanked Chestnut Hill College 4-0 in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference action. The Cougars improve to 1-3-1 overall and 1-1-0 in the CACC, while the Griffins fall to 1-4-0 and 0-3-0 in conference play.
Caldwell controlled the pace of play as they finished with 25 total shots to Chestnut Hill's two. The Cougars also held the edge in corner kicks 6-0.
Freshman
Amber Raines (Millville, N.J.) put the Cougars in the lead late in the opening half as she scored in the 39th minute off an assist by junior
Shelagh Kerrisk (Keansburg, N.J.).
The Cougars added to their lead in the second half as Kerrisk tacked on her second assist of the day as sophomore
Gianna Klucker (Tamins, Switzerland) gave Caldwell a 2-0 lead in the 53rd minutes. Sophomore
Carlyn Salus (Pompton Lakes, N.J.) netted her first goal of the season six minutes later.
Freshman
Gina Alfano (Union, N.J.) capped the scoring as she tallied her first collegiate goal off an assist by fellow freshman
Racquel Chong (West Orange, N.J.) in the 80th minute.
In net, senior goalie
Kylie Whalen (Hazlet, N.J.) recorded one save in 90 minutes in net.
The Cougars travel to Bloomfield College on Tuesday, September 20 as they face off against the Bears at 7 pm in a CACC clash.
