PHILADELPHIA, Pa.- The Caldwell University women's soccer dropped their Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference opener 1-0 to the Philadelphia University Rams in a rematch of last season's conference championship game. The Cougars fall to 0-3-1 and 0-1-0 in the CACC, while the Rams improve to 1-1-1 and 1-0-1 in conference play.
The Rams netted the lone goal of the game in the first half at the 18
th minute of play. Philadelphia controlled the action in the second half as they held the edge ins hots on goals 9-5 for the game.
The Cougars battled in the second half and had a late opportunity as sophomore
Jessica LaConde's (Huntington Beach, Calif.) shot with eight seconds left was blocked by a Philadelphia defender.
In net, senior goalie
Kylie Whalen (Hazlet, N.J.) recorded eight saves in 90 minutes in net.
The Cougars open up their home schedule on Wednesday, September 14 against Felician University at Caldwell Field at 4 pm.
