QUEENS, N.Y.- The Caldwell University baseball team came up short 6-1 in a non-conference game to Queens College.
The Cougars fall to 7-11 overall, while the Knights improve to 11-14.
Queens took an early lead as they scored in the first and third innings and added three in the seventh.
The Cougars got on the board in the eighth as sophomores
Paul Marinello (Freehold, NJ) and William
Levier (Monroe Township, NJ) led off with singles. Following a double play, Marinello moved to third and scored on a base hit by junior
Michael Bernstein (Staten Island, NY).
On the mound, freshman
Anthony Tornatore (Fairfield, NJ) tossed six innings, allowing three runs on four hits, while striking out two to fall to 0-1. Senior
Richard Evaniecki (Bloomfield, NJ) tossed one inning, allowing two runs on four hits, while striking out one. Sophomore
Christopher Cerf (Ramsey, NJ) pitched the final inning, allowing one run on two hits. Â
The Cougars are back in action on Saturday, April 9 as they host Dominican College in a CACC doubleheader at noon at the Kiwanis Oval. Â
