LAKEWOOD, N.J.- Junior pitcher
Sydney Ponto (West Deptford, NJ) tossed a four-hit shutout to help lead the #15 and Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference top seed to a 3-0 victory against Felician University in the opening game of the CACC Championship. The Cougars fell in their second game of the day 8-4 to Holy Family University.
The Cougars move to 34-12 on the season, while the Golden Falcons fall to 17-30 and the Tigers improve to 29-15. Â

Brielle Reighn (Runnemeade, NJ) provided the offense for the Cougars in the opening game of the CACC Championship as she drove in all three runs. In the opening inning, senior
Caitlin McCready (Jupiter, FL) reached on a sacrifice bunt error and eventually advanced to third. Reighn grounded out as McCready crossed the plate to give Caldwell a 1-0 lead.
In the third, McCready reached on an infield single to lead off the inning. Reighn blasted her first homerun of the season to put the Cougars ahead 3-0.
Ponto (16-7) took care of business on the mound as she tossed 16th complete game of the season, allowing four hits and striking out two in the win.

The Cougars got on the board in the opening inning as junior
Amy Hickman (Jackson, NJ) led off with a bunt single. Reighn doubled her home and scored on a single by sophomore
Marisa Monasseri (Monroe, NJ) for a 2-0 lead.
The Tigers added a run in the fourth but Caldwell added a pair of runs in the fifth. Hickman and McCready singled with one out to put runners at first and third. Reighn doubled Hickman, while Monasseri hit a sacrifice fly to score Reighn to put the Cougars up 4-1. Holy Family rallied with four runs in the sixth and added three in the seventh to take the game.

Amber Padilla (Chino, CA) tossed a complete game, allowing eight runs (seven earned) on 13 hits and struck out one to fall to 17-4 on the season.
