CALDWELL, N.J.- Sophomore
Emily Fey (Center Moriches, NY) netted a trio of goals but the Caldwell University Women's Lacrosse team came up short to the Queens College Knights by a score of 7-6.
The Cougars fall to 0-4 on the season, while the Knights up their mark to 4-1.
Queens got on the board with a pair of goals to take a 2-0 lead. Junior
Courtney Donlon (East Brunswick, NJ) got the Cougars on the board at the 19:10 mark of the first half. The Knights answered with a goal five minutes later but Caldwell closed the gap before halftime. Fey netted her first goal of the game with 2:22 on the clock as Caldwell closed to within 3-2 heading to halftime.
The Knights added a pair of goals to start the second to extend their lead to 5-2. Fey netted two goals five minutes apart to help the Cougars cut the score to 5-4.
Queens added a goal at the 15:13 mark but Caldwell rallied back behind two straight goals. Sophomore
Pamela Schenck (East Moriches, NY) netted two goals to tie the game at 6-6 with 12 minutes to play. The Knights got the go-ahead goal with 8:25 left in the game but the Cougars could not come up with the equalizer.
Freshman
Rachel Lucia (Egg Harbor Township, NJ) totaled two draw controls and registered one assist on the Cougars' first goal. Schenck posted three ground balls and one draw control. In net, freshman
Elizabeth Ruedemann (Monmouth Junction, NJ) recorded nine saves.
The Cougars open Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference play as they host Post University at Essex Valley School Athletic Complex in West Caldwell at 4 pm.
