CALDWELL, N.J.- Senior 
Antoinette Pilla (Scarsdale, N.Y.) netted her 1,000th career point in the second quarter as the Caldwell University women's basketball team defeated Dominican College 87-65 in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference action.
 
The Cougars improve to 6-1 overall and remain unbeaten in CACC play with a 3-0 mark. The Chargers drop to 0-6 and 0-1 in conference play.
 
Dominican took an 8-2 lead in the first three minutes of the game but the Cougars answered with a 25-10 run that stretched into the second quarter. Caldwell battled back to pull even at 10 behind a three's from juniors 
Kristen Drogsler (Middle Village, N.Y.) and
 Maura Kelty (Barrington, R.I.). Pilla scored in the paint to tie the score at 10 and the Cougars pushed in front to stay with a trifecta from junior 
Sharell Sanders (Dorchester, Mass.).
 
Caldwell built a nine-point lead at 27-18 early in the second quarter following a Drogsler triple. The Chargers rallied back as they pulled even at 29 with 4:18 left in the first half. The Cougars netted six points to close the half and held a 35-31 lead at the break.
 
The Cougars pulled away in the third quarter as they opened the second half with an 18-6 run. Sanders netted four points, while Kelty added five points. Drogsler drained three from downtown, capping the run at the 4:45 mark to put Caldwell in front 53-37. Caldwell maintained a double-digit lead the rest of the way.
 
Drogsler continued her scoring prowess as she turned in her seventh 20-point effort in seven games this season. She drained 5-of-8 from downtown, finishing with 23 points, four boards and three assists. Kelty connected on 2-of-3 from the outside, totaling 17 points, seven rebounds and three steals. Sanders tallied nine points, six rebounds and seven assists. 
 
Pilla totaled nine points and three rebounds in the victory. She became the 17th member of the Cougar 1,000-point club and finished the night with 1,001 career points.
 
The Cougars host Saint Thomas Aquinas College on Saturday, December 3 at 1 pm.
