WILMINGTON, Del.- Caldwell University volleyball junior
Taryn Auyong (Honolulu, Hawaii) tallied 20 kills as the Cougars upset #1 North seed Post University in a thrilling five set match to advance to Sunday's Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Championship match.
The Cougars improve to 23-10 overall and advance to Sunday's championship match where they will face #1 South seed Philadelphia University at noon. The Eagles fall to 26-5 on the season.
Caldwell trailed 9-5 in the first set but rallied to even the score at nine, pulling ahead 12-10. Post tied the score at 12 but the Cougars answered as they took a 19-13 lead and took the first set 25-19. The Eagles rallied to take the next two sets, jumping out to early leads and won 25-15 and 25-16. The Cougars went up 4-0 in the fourth set but Post eventually evened the score at 12-12. Caldwell pushed ahead 17-14 but the Eagles battled back to tie the score at 20. Caldwell netted the next three points and forced a deciding set with a 25-21 win.
In the fifth set, the teams traded leads early with Caldwell leading 9-6. Post rallied to tie the score at nine but the Cougars pushed ahead 13-10. Caldwell took the match, winning 15-12 in the fifth set.
Auyong chipped in 14 digs, four blocks and two aces, while junior
Katrina Janssen (Seville, Australia) totaled 16 kills, 21 digs and three aces. Sophomore
Melanie Krpec (Katy, Texas) added three kills and 10 digs, while freshman
Kathleen Compagno (Orland Park, Ill.) finished with five kills and four blocks.

Gabrielle Bennett (San Antonio, Texas) totaled 20 assists, 10 digs and three aces, while sophomore
Jordan Hoffman (Colorado Springs, Colo.) tallied 28 assists, six kills and 12 digs. Junior
Jessica Mitchell (Plainfield, Ill.) posted a match-high 29 digs
The Cougars advance to their second conference championship match in the last three seasons as they will face #1 South Philadelphia on Sunday, November 20 at noon on the campus on Wilmington University.
