WILMINGTON, Del.- The Caldwell University volleyball team championship run came to an end on Sunday as the Cougars fell to #1 South seed Philadelphia University 3-0 in the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Championship match. Â

Caldwell's season ends at 23-11, while the Rams improve to 29-4 and secure the conference's automatic bid to the NCAA Division II Championship.

The opening set saw nine lead changes as both teams held slim advantage in a back and forth battle. Caldwell last held a lead at 19-18 but the Rams pulled ahead 22-20. The Cougars tallied the next two points to even the set at 22. The teams traded points to stay even at 23 but Philadelphia netted the final two points to take the opening set 25-23.

In the second set, the Cougars jumped out to a 5-4 lead. The Rams tallied the next five points to go ahead 9-5. Caldwell closed the gap to 11-9 but Philadelphia pulled ahead 14-9, eventually winning 25-14. The Rams opened the third set with five straight points to take the early advantage. The Cougars battled back, getting as close as two points three time. Caldwell trailed 17-15 but the Rams pushed ahead 23-18 and took the match 25-19.

Katrina Janssen (Seville, Australia) tallied nine kills, 12 digs and two total blocks (one solo). Junior
Taryn Auyong (Honolulu, Hawaii) chipped in eight kills and six digs. Sophomore
Melanie Krpec (Katy, Texas) contributed three kills and 10 digs.

Gabrielle Bennett (San Antonio, Texas) chipped in 13 assists, seven digs and two aces, while sophomore
Jordan Hoffman (Colorado Springs, Colo.) totaled eight assists, three kills and three digs. Junior
Jessica Mitchell (Plainfield, Ill.) finished with 12 digs for the Cougars.

For their outstanding tournament efforts, Janssen and Mitchell were named to the CACC All-Tournament Team.

Senior
Katrina Logemann (San Diego, Calif.) playing in her final collegiate match, tallied one kill and one solo block. She finished her career in a Cougar uniform with 94 kills and 35 total blocks.
