Women’s Basketball Remains Unbeaten; Cruise to Conference Opening Victory against Felician

RUTHERFORD, N.J.- Junior Kristen Drogsler (Middle Village, N.Y.) tallied a game-high 20 points to help lead the Caldwell University women's basketball team to a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference victory against Felician University. The Cougars remain unbeaten at 3-0 and open CACC play at 1-0 with a 70-55 win against the Golden Falcons. Felician falls to 0-3 and 0-1 in conference play.
 
Caldwell scored the first five points of the game and never relinquished the lead. The Cougars led 13-5 midway through the opening quarter on their way to a 22-13 advantage. Senior Antoinette Pilla (Scarsdale, N.Y.) drained a late triple to give Caldwell a nine-point lead after the opening quarter.
 
The Cougars pulled away in the second quarter as they outscored the Golden Falcons 19-6. Drogsler netted eight points in the quarter while sophomore Rachel Simon (Walkill, N.Y.) chipped in six points. Caldwell took control of the game as they pulled ahead to take a 41-19 lead into halftime.
 
Caldwell maintained their double digit lead through the final two quarters. The Cougars led by as much as 23 points late in the fourth quarter before Felician closed to gap to 15 points down the stretch.
 
Drogsler turned in an all-around effort with 20 points, five rebounds, four assists and six steals. Junior Sharell Sanders (Dorchester, Mass.) chipped in 11 points, four rebounds and three steals, while Simon totaled 13 points, four boards and three steals. Junior Karlie O'Driscoll (Sharon, Mass.) recorded eight points, six rebounds and two steals, while sophomore Andie Lennon (Secaucus, N.J.) finished with five rebounds, five assists and two steals. Junior Maura Kelty (Barrington, R.I.) contributed four points and five boards.
 
The Cougars hit the road this weekend as they travel to Queens College on Saturday, November 19 for a non-conference game at 3 pm.
