Ruud Lutterman (Dalern, Netherlands) Netted 14 points in his college debut but the men's basketball team fell to Daemen College 75-64.

The Cougars open the season at 0-1, while the Wildcats improve to 1-0.

Caldwell built a 20-13 lead over the first eight minutes of the game led by senior
Austin Woods (Milford, Conn.) who totaled six points. Freshman
Zay Jennings (Allentown, Pa.) drained a pair of early three-pointers, while Lutterman recorded four points to give the Cougars an early advantage.

Daemen rallied as they pulled even at 25-25 with just over eight minutes to play in the opening half. Caldwell retook the lead behind a triple from freshman
Daan Vianen (Nieuwegein, Netherlands) and a Lutterman tip-in as the Cougars jumped back ahead 30-25 with 6:30 to play in the half. The Wildcats closed the half with a 12-0 run and scored the first four points of the second half to go up 41-30 with just over 18 minutes to play in the game.

Lutterman matches the Wildcats with buckets to cut the score down to nine points but Daemen extended to a double-digit lead that they held the rest of the way.

For the Cougars, Lutterman just missed a double-double effort as he shot 6-for-8 from the field, finishing with 14 points and nine rebounds. Freshman
Vaughn Covington (Sicklerville, N.J.). chipped in 14 points, three rebounds and three assists, while Woods totaled six points, two rebounds and two blocks. Vianen netted 10 points, while Jennings posted nine points and two rebounds. Sophomore
Ahmad Harrison (Newark, N.J.) contributed five points and five assists.

The Cougars wrap up play at the Daemen Tournament as they face Roberts Wesleyan College on Saturday, November 12 at 2 pm.
