CALDWELL, N.J.- Sophomore
Gianna Klucker (Tamins, Switzerland) netted a goal and an assist to lead the Caldwell University women's soccer team to a 4-2 win against the Concordia College Clippers in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference play.
The Cougars improve to 6-4-1 overall and 5-2-0 in the CACC, while the Clippers drop to 2-7-0 and 1-6-0 in conference play.
Caldwell controlled the pace of play from the start as Klucker gave the Cougars the early lead in the 12
th minute of play off an assist from sophomore
Jessica LaConde (Huntington Beach, Calif.). Sophomore
Carlyn Salus (Pompton Lakes, N.J.) added to the lead six minutes later with her team-leading sixth goal of the season. The Clippers got on the board late in the half but Caldwell held a 2-1 halftime lead.
The Cougars continued to dictate the action into the second half as they pulled away with a pair of early goals. LaConde found the back of the net in the 52
nd minute with Klucker earning the assist.
Caldwell scored again two minutes later as junior
Shelagh Kerrisk (Keansburg, N.J.) booted a ball into the net off a feed from senior
Delaney Boyer (Freehold, N.J.). Concordia added a goal with just under five minutes to play for final tally of the contest.
Sophomore
Mary Kanzler (East Northport, N.Y.) played all 90 minutes in net, recording three saves.
Caldwell dominated the corner kick 8-0 and total shots 22-5. The Cougars also held the advantage in shots on goal 12-5.
The Cougars take a break from conference play as they host Roberts Wesleyan College on Saturday, October 9 for a noon contest. Prior to the game, Caldwell Women's Soccer will recognize their seniors for their efforts during their Cougar careers.
