WATERBURY, Conn.- Senior
Delaney Boyer (Freehold, N.J.) netted a second half goal as the Caldwell University women's soccer team downed Post University 2-0 in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference action. The Cougars have clinched a top-4 seed and will host a CACC Championship First Round game on Monday.
The Cougars finish the regular season at 10-7-1 overall and 9-3-0 in the CACC. The Eagles fall to 4-10-1 and 4-7-1 in conference play.
Caldwell capitalized on a Eagles' error as the Cougars free kick was touched in by a Post defender into the net for an own goal, giving Caldwell the early lead.
The Cougars added a goal in the second half as Boyer chipped the ball in the net off the corner kick as Caldwell extended to a 2-0 advantage in the 66
th minute.
Senior keeper
Kylie Whalen (Hazlet, N.J.) posted her fourth shutout of the season as she recorded three saves in 90 minutes in net.
Caldwell will await the results of the remaining conference schedule that will determine their seed and opponent. The Cougars will host the First Round of the CACC Championship on Monday, October 31 at 2 pm.
