PHILADELPHIA, Pa.- Sophomore
Carlyn Salus (Pompton Lakes, N.J) netted an early second half goal but the Caldwell University women's soccer team came up short to Holy Family University 2-1 in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference play.
The Cougars fall to 9-7-1 overall and 8-3-0 in the CACC, while the Tigers improve to 7-7-2 and 6-3-2 in conference play.
The teams battled to a scoreless opening half with the Tigers holding the advantage in shots 8-4.
Caldwell struck early in the second half as sophomore
Jessica LaConde (Huntington Beach, Calif.) crossed the ball into the box and Salus booted it home for a 1-0 lead.
Holy Family pulled even in the 71st minute as the knotted the game at 1-1. Both teams had scoring chances in the final minutes and the Tigers netted the game-winner with 1:49 left in the game.
In net, sophomore
Mary Kanzler (East Northport, N.Y.) played 90 minutes in net and recorded nine saves.
Caldwell concludes the regular season on Wednesday, October 26 for a CACC contest at 3 pm.
