Men’s Soccer Power Past Holy Family with Season-High Seven Goals

PHILADELPHIA, Pa.- Senior Jesper Stenberg (Taby, Sweden) scored a pair of first half goals as the Caldwell University men's soccer team tallied a season high seven goals en-route to a 7-1 win against Holy Family University in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference game.
 
The Cougars improve to 7-7-2 overall and 6-3-2 in the CACC, while the Tigers fall to 4-10-3 and 2-6-3 in conference play.
 
Caldwell got on the board early as Stenberg scored in the fifth minute of play, off an assist from sophomore Tom Yorston (Northamptonshire, United Kingdom). Freshman Stefan Arnshed (Trelleborg, Sweden) added to the Cougars lead in the 17th minute of an assist from junior Martin Djikanovic (Podgorica, Montenegro).
 
Stenberg notched his second goal of the day in the 25th minute with freshman Darren Appanah (Enfield, England) getting the assist. Holy Family got on the board late in the half as they scored in the 37th minute but the Cougars led 3-1 at halftime.
 
The Cougars continued their offensive attack as Appanah netted a goal off a Yorston assist in the 60th minute. Appanah and Yorston again connected for Caldwell's fifth goal of the day six minutes later.
 
Caldwell wasn't finished as Djikanovic got his second goal of the season off an assist from junior Sam Odell (Walton-on-Thames, England). The scoring finally wrapped up in the 81st minute as Arnshed tallied his second goal of the game off an assist from sophomore Italo Cardoso (Monroe, N.J.).
 
For the game, Arnshed, Stenberg and Appanah each tallied two goals each, while Yorston finished with three assists.
 
Junior goal keeper Fritz Meister (Flaach, Switzerland) recorded three saves in 81 minutes in net. Freshman Israel Maldonado (Union, N.J.) came on in relief as keeper, playing the final nine minutes.
 
The Cougars conclude the regular season on the road as they travel to Post University for a CACC clash on Tuesday, October 25 at 3 pm.
