Katrina Janssen (Seville, Australia) and junior
Taryn Auyong (Honolulu, Hawaii) each tallied 17 kills as the Caldwell University volleyball team defeated Goldey-Beacom College 3-1 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference action.
The Cougars improve to 14-9 overall and 7-4 in the CACC, while the Lightning drop to 6-10 and 3-8 in conference play.
Goldey-Beacom took the opening set 25-20 but the Cougars bounced back to take the next three sets. Caldwell took three straights sets 25-15, 25-16 and 25-14 to win the match.
Janssen chipped in four blocks and 12 digs, while Auyong totaled three aces and seven digs. Freshman
Avery Stanechewski (Tampa, Fla.) posted five kills and five total blocks (three solo), while sophomore
Melanie Krpec (Katy, Texas) added five kills, three aces and nine digs.
Sophomore
Jordan Hoffman (Colorado Springs, Colo.) led the Cougars with 22 assists, while junior
Gabrielle Bennett (San Antonio, Texas) finished with 21 assists. Junior
Jessica Mitchell (Plainfield, Ill.) recorded 11 digs in the win. Â
