LAKEWOOD, N.J.- The Caldwell Women's Volleyball team split a pair of matches on Day 2 of the Georgian Court Tournament. The Cougars downed Mercy College 3-0 (25-12, 25-16, 25-16) but fell to Le Moyne College 3-1 (13-25, 25-14, 22-25, 23-25) as they move to 3-1 on the season. The Mavericks fall to 0-3 overall, while the Dolphins improve to 4-0 on the season.
In the opening match win over Mercy, freshman Kristin Murrell (Toledo, OH) led the way with 11 kills and 14 digs, while Katrina Janssen (Seville, Australia) added six kills. Sophomore Gabrielle Bennett (San Antonio, TX) netted 10 assists, while Jessica Mitchell (Plainfield, IL) led the team with 17 digs. Jordan Hoffman (Colorado Springs, CO) chipped in 11 digs.
In their second match of the day, Janssen led the team with 11 kills, while Murrell added 10 kills and 23 digs. Mitchell added 24 assists, while Bennett totaled 15 assists.
For her play for the weekend, Bennett was named to the All-Tournament team.
The Cougars head to the Wilmington Tournament next weekend as they will face Pace University and Le Moyne on Friday and Franklin Pierce University and American International College on Saturday.
