CALDWELL, N.J.- The Caldwell University women's volleyball battled back from a 2-1 match deficit to rally past the Georgian Court University Lions 3-2 in a key Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference match-up. The Cougars continued their winning way in the second match of the day as they defeated Queens College 3-0 in non-conference play.

The Cougars improve to 11-4 overall and bump their CACC mark to 3-1. The Lions fall to 6-8 and 2-1 in conference play, while the Knights drop to 3-8 on the season.

In their opening match, Caldwell took the opener 25-16 but dropped the next two set 25-18 and 27-25. The Cougars trailed 12-7 in the fourth set but battled back to a 12-12 tie and pushed ahead to a brief lead at 13-12. The teams traded points until with the final tie at 24 all as Caldwell scored the final two points to take the set. In the deciding set, The Cougars raced out to an 11-5 lead but the Lions sliced in down to a point at 11-10. The teams traded points but Caldwell netted the final two points to win 15-13 and take the match.

 Sophomore
Taryn Auyong (Honolulu, HI) led the way in the opener with 17 kills and 10 digs, while sophomore
Katrina Janssen (Seville, Australia) tallied 12 kills and eight blocks. Senior
Rachael DiLeonardo (Milton, GA) added 10 digs, 10 kills and two services aces, while sophomore
Jessica Mitchell (Plainfield, IL) recorded 33 digs. Senior
Kelsey Blankerts (Sylvania, OH) totaled eight blocks, while sophomore
Gabrielle Bennett (San Antonio, TX) chipped in 33 assists and six aces.

In the second match against Queens, the Cougars cruised in the first two sets 25-18 and 25-15 but took the match with a 25-22 in the third set. Auyong again led the Cougars with nine kills, while Janssen totaled eight kills and one block. Freshman
Kristin Murrell (Toledo OH) chipped in seven kills and eight digs, while Mitchell led the match with 20 digs. Freshman
Jordan Hoffman (Colorado Springs, CO) finished with 17 assists, while Bennett contributed 14 assists.

The Cougars are back at the Newman Center on Tuesday, September 29 as they host Concordia College in a CACC clash at 7 pm.
