CALDWELL, N.J.- Sophomore
Katrina Janssen (Seville Australia) tallied 33 kills in two matches to help lead the Caldwell University volleyball team to a pair of victories on Saturday afternoon. The Cougars down host Philadelphia University 3-1 in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference match and also defeated Southern Connecticut St University 3-1.

The Cougars improve their record to 8-4 overall and even their CACC record at 1-1. The Rams fall to 2-4 and 0-1 in conference play, while the Owls drop to 2-7.

In the opening victory against Philadelphia, Caldwell took the first two sets 25-19 and 25-19. The Rams edged the Cougars in the third set 25-21 but the Cougars took the match with a 25-21 win in the fourth set.

Janssen led the way with 12 kills and three blocks, while sophomore
Taryn Auyong (Honolulu, HI) added nine kills. Freshman
Kristin Murrell (Toledo, OH) totaled eight kills, while senior
Rachael DiLeonardo (Milton, GA) finished with seven kills and 12 digs. Sophomore
Jessica Mitchell (Plainfield, IL) led the team with 20 digs. Sophomore
Gabrielle Bennett (San Antonio, TX) posted 21 assists, while
Jordan Hoffman (Colorado Springs, CO) led the team with 24 assists.

In the second match, Caldwell raced out to an early lead with 25-14 and 25-12 wins in the first two sets. The Owls took a set 25-22 but the Cougars closed the door in the fourth set 25-22 to take the win.

Janssen again led the way for the Cougars with 21 kills and three blocks, while Auyong chipped in 13 kills and 13 digs. DiLeonardo also posted double-figures in kills and digs with 10 and 12, while Mitchell led the team with 26 digs. Bennett led in the assist category with 29, while Hoffman finished with 11. Â

The Cougars start a four-match home stretch on Wednesday, September 23 as they host CACC rival Dominican College at 7 pm at the Newman Center.
