WATERBURY, Conn.- Freshman
Katrina Janssen (Seville, Australia) led the Cougars with 11 kills but the Caldwell University volleyball team fell in their Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference opener to the Post University Eagles 3-1. The Cougars fall to 6-4 and 0-1 in the CACC, while the Eagles improve to 7-4 and 1-0 in conference play.
Caldwell got the match off to a positive start as they won the opening set 25-17. Post answered as they won the final three sets 25-19, 25-13 and 25-15 to win the match.
Janssen added three blocks to her totals, while sophomore
Taryn Auyong (Honolulu, HI) chipped in eight kills and nine digs. Senior
Rachael DiLeonardo (Milton, GA) added five kills and 13 digs, while sophomore
Jessica Mitchell (Plainfield, IL) finished with 20 digs. Sophomore
Gabrielle Bennett (San Antonio, TX) added 21 assists, while freshman
Jordan Hoffman (Colorado Springs, CO) finished with 11 assists.
Caldwell heads to Philadelphia University for a pair of matches on Saturday afternoon. The Cougars will take on the host Rams in a CACC match at noon, followed by a non-conference match against Southern Connecticut State University at 2 pm.
