Cougar Baseball Ends CACC Schedule at Nyack

POMONA, N.Y. – The Caldwell University baseball team concluded its Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference schedule with a pair of losses to Nyack College Tuesday afternoon at Provident Bank Park. The Cougars (11-25), who fell 5-0 and 2-0, finished in seventh place with a conference mark of 8-12. The Warriors (11-29) end up in eighth with a CACC record of 7-13.

In the first game, Caldwell managed just three hits as Nyack pitcher Cole Tobin tossed a three-hit shutout with nine strikeouts. The Warriors scored a run in the third inning and added another in the seventh before scoring three times in the bottom of the eighth. Senior Robert Humes (Berlin, NJ/Winslow Twp.) pitched well for the Cougars, allowing two runs, one earned, on five hits while fanning nine in 6 1/3 innings.

Caldwell didn't fare much better in Game 2, as Craig Jacobs scattered five hits for the Warriors' second complete-game shutout on the day. Senior Eric Bomenblit (Allenwood, NJ/Wall) limited Nyack to single runs in the third and seventh innings on six hits. He struck out eight batters in seven innings in another quality start.

The Cougars play a non-conference game at Adelphi University on Wednesday, Apr. 29, beginning at 3:30 p.m. in Garden City, N.Y.
