DOBBS FERRY, N.Y. – The Caldwell University baseball team fell to Mercy College, 7-2 in a non-conference game Wednesday afternoon at Mercy Field. The Cougars drop to 2-15 with the loss, while the Mavericks improve to 5-14.
Mercy broke a scoreless tie with two runs in the bottom of the fourth. The Mavericks held Caldwell scoreless while scoring two more runs in the sixth, a run in the seventh and two runs in the eighth for a 7-0 lead. In the top of the ninth, senior
Anthony Caruso (North Babylon, NY/North Babylon) and freshman
Noah Clark (Toms River, NJ/Toms River East) both had RBI singles to make the score 7-2.
Clark went 3-for-3 at the plate, while sophomore
Michael Bernstein (Staten Island, NY/Susan Wagner) had two hits in the loss.
Caldwell hosts Post University in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference doubleheader on Thursday, Apr. 2, beginning at 3:00 p.m. at the Kiwanis Oval.
