CALDWELL, N.J. – The Caldwell University women's lacrosse team fell to Holy Family University, 17-5 in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference match Tuesday afternoon at the Kiwanis Oval. The loss drops the Cougars to 2-5 overall and 1-3 in conference play, while the Tigers (6-3) remain unbeaten in the CACC with a 4-0 record.
Holy Family kept Caldwell off the scoreboard in the first half while tallying 10 of their 12 goals in the last 13 minutes of the period. The two teams each found the net five times in the second half, with sophomore midfielder
Christina Gonzalez (Fairfax, VA/Chantilly) and freshman midfielder
Kylee Shoop (Triangle, VA/Forest Park) each scoring twice for the Cougars. Freshman midfielder
Emily Fey (Center Moriches, NY/Center Moriches) also scored for Caldwell.
Caldwell was outshot, 35-9 for the game, with sophomore goalie
Melissa Garris (Matawan, NJ/Old Bridge) making nine saves in goal. Grace Deckert tallied four saves for Holy Family, which received five goals from Brianna Lancetta.
The Cougars play at Molloy College in a non-conference game on Thursday, Apr. 2, beginning at 6:00 p.m. in Rockville Centre, N.Y.
