Pilla’s 17 Points Leads Women’s Basketball to Win against Post

WATERBURY, Conn.- Junior Antoinette Pilla (Scarsdale, NY) shot 4-for-8 from downtown as she finished with 17 points to help lead the Caldwell University women's basketball team to a 89-64 win against the Post University Eagles in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference action.  
 
The Cougars improve to 5-4 and 3-1 in conference play, while the Eagles drop to 0-9 and 0-4 in conference play.
 
Caldwell got off to a fast start as they raced out to a 14-4 lead halfway through the opening quarter. Senior Nicole Angelo (Mt. Laurel, NJ) scored four points, while sophomore Kristen Drogsler (Middle Village, NY) dropped in five points including one from downtown. Pilla capped the run with a triple at the 4:50 mark to help the Cougars build a double digit lead.
 
The Eagles chipped away as they pulled to within five points early in the second quarter at 21-16 at the 9:36 mark. The Cougars answered as Pilla and freshman Andie Lennon (Secaucus, NJ) each connected on three-pointers, while sophomore Karlie O'Driscoll (Sharon, MA) netted six points to extend their lead to 33-20 with 4:48 left in the quarter.
 
Caldwell added to their lead down the stretch as they led 45-27 lead at the break. The Cougars continued their strong play into the second half as they maintained a double digit lead into the fourth quarter.
 
For the Cougars, Pilla's 17 points off the bench led the way, while Angelo finished with 13 points and five assists. Sophomore Sharell Sanders (Dorchester, MA) tallied 14 points, six rebounds, eight assists and three steals, while Drogsler totaled 16 points, five boards and three assists.
 
The Cougars return to the Newman Center this Saturday, December 12 as they host the Felician University Golden Falcons on 1 pm.
