CALDWELL, N.J.- Senior
Billy McDonald (North Haven, CT) scored 20 points but the Caldwell University men's basketball team fell 93-78 in a non-conference game to Dowling College.

The Cougars fall to 3-3 on the season, while the Golden Lions improve to 4-3 overall.

Dowling jumped in front early as they built a 25-13 lead at the 12:30 mark of the first half. Caldwell rallied as they scored 11 of the next 12 points in the game to close the gap to 26-24 with 7:55 left in the opening half. McDonald led the run with five points including a triple to help the Cougars pull within two points. The Golden Lions scored the next nine points to go push their lead into double figures as they led 54-39 at halftime.

The Cougars battled back to start the second half as they opened up with an 18-6 run to close to within three points. Senior
Dawan Lighty (Paterson, NJ) scored eight points including a pair of trifectas, while senior
Brian Kenny (Howell, NJ) also added eight points, capping the run with a lay-up at the 13:12 mark to cut the score to 60-57. The Golden Lions pushed their lead back to double digits at the 8:55 mark and held a lead the rest of the way.

For the Cougars, McDonald tallied 20 points and four boards, while Lighty also netted 20 points on 4-for-6 shooting from long range along with three assists. Kenny chipped in 16 points, seven rebounds, three assists and two steals.

The Cougars are back into conference play this week as they travel to Nyack College on Wednesday December 2 for a 7:30 pm game against the Warriors. Â
