Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Yorston Goal Lifts Men’s Soccer to Double Overtime Victory

EAST STROUDSBURG, Pa.- Freshman Tom Yorston (Northamptonshire, UK) netted his fourth goal of the season in the fourth minute of the second overtime period to lift the Caldwell University men's soccer team to a 2-1 victory against the East Stroudsburg University Warriors.

The Cougars improve to 1-9-1 overall, while the Warriors fall to 5-6-0 in 2015.

Caldwell struck first early in the contest as sophomore Sam Odell (Walton-On-Thames, England) netted his first goal of the season in the ninth minute of play. The Warriors held the edge in shots in the first half 6-3 but senior goalie Michael Hartmann (Medford, N.J.) came up with three big saves, including one with two minutes left in the half to preserve a 1-0 halftime lead.

The Warriors pulled even early in the second half with a goal on the 51st minute. The Cougars had the edge in shots in the second half 8-7 and had two chances late in regulation but the score remained tied to force overtime.

In the first overtime, Hartmann saved one shot to keep the score at 1-1 as the teams needed a second overtime. Yorston netted the game-winner in the 104th minute off an assist from junior Jakub Havlak (Prague, Czech Republic) to seal the win for the Cougars.

Hartmann was stellar in net as he finished with six saves.

The Cougars host Georgian Court University in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference match at 2:30 pm at Caldwell Field.
