Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Men’s Soccer Blanks Bloomfield

CALDWELL, N.J.- Freshman Tom Yorston (Northamptonshire, UK) scored an early goal to help pace the Caldwell University men's soccer team to a 2-0 victory against the Bloomfield College Bears in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference play.

The Cougars improve to 2-9-1 overall and 1-5-1 in CACC play, while the Bears fall to 7-4-2 and 5-3-1 in conference play.

The teams battled to a scoreless first half as Caldwell held the edge in shots 5-3.

Yorston got the Cougar offense going in the second half to put Caldwell on the board. Senior Christian Castro (Clifton, NJ) crossed the ball from right side to Yorston who turned and found the back of the net for a 1-0 lead in the 55th minute.

The Cougars added to their lead later in the second half as sophomore Sam Odell (Surrey, England) fed in the corner kick to freshman Joaquin Escudero (San Sebastian, Spain) for the second goal of the game. Caldwell was able to fend off the Bloomfield offense as they had four shots in the final 20 minutes but the Cougar defense held firm to preserve the win.

Senior goalie Michael Hartmann (Medford, NJ) recorded one save in the game for his second shutout of the season.

Caldwell travels to Chestnut Hill College on Saturday, October 17 for a CACC match at 3 pm.
