Men’s Soccer Second Half Comeback Falls Short

CALDWELL, N.J.- The Caldwell University men's soccer team netted a pair of second half goals but their rally fell short in a 3-2 loss to the Chestnut Hill College Griffins in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference play.
 
The Cougars fall to 2-10-1 overall and 1-6-1 in CACC play, while the Griffins improve to 5-5-2 and 4-3-2 in conference play.
 
The Griffins struck first as they scored a pair of first half goals in the 30th minute and the 44th minute to lead at the half 2-0.
 
Chestnut Hill added a goal early in the second half in the 51st minute to extend their lead to 3-0.
 
The Cougars got on the board just over a minute later as senior Christian Castro (Clifton, NJ) found the back of the net on a penalty kick to cut the score to 3-1. Caldwell sliced the score down to a goal as junior Jakub Havlak (Prague, Czech Republic) scored in the 82nd minute to make the score 3-2. The Cougars had a couple of chances in the final six minutes but could not come up with the equalizer.
 
Senior goalie Michael Hartmann (Medford, NJ) recorded two saves in the contest.
 
Caldwell travels to Dominican College on Tuesday, October 20 for a CACC match at 3:30 pm.
