PHILADELPHIA, Pa.- The Caldwell University women's volleyball split a tri-match hosted by Chestnut Hill College as they beat the host Griffins 3-0 in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference match-up and fell to the NYIT Bears 3-0 in a non-conference match.
The Cougars move to 13-6 overall and improve to 5-2 in the CACC. The Griffins fall to 5-13 and 4-2 in conference play, while the Bears improve to 10-3 overall.
In their opening match, Caldwell swept all three sets 25-11, 25-23 and 25-22.
Sophomore
Katrina Janssen (Seville, Australia) led the Cougars with 19 kills and three blocks, while senior
Rachael DiLeonardo (Milton, GA) added nine kills and 20 digs. Sophomore
Taryn Auyong (Honolulu, HI) posted nine kills, while sophomore
Jessica Mitchell (Plainfield, IL) recorded 20 digs. Sophomore
Gabrielle Bennett (San Antonio, TX) led the team with 24 assists and 15 digs, while freshman
Jordan Hoffman (Colorado Springs, CO) finished with 10 assists.
In the second match of the afternoon, the Cougars fell to the NYIT Bears 25-22, 25-22, 26-24. Janssen led the way again with 12 kills and three blocks, while DiLeonardo added eight kills and 11 digs. Freshman
Kristin Murrell (Toledo OH) chipped in nine kills and six digs, while Auyong totaled six kills and 11 digs. Bennett recorded 24 assists, while Hoffman posted 15 assists. Mitchell finished with 27 digs.
The Cougars travel to LIU Post on Tuesday, October 7 for a non-conference match against the Pioneers at 7 pm.
