ORANGEBURG, N.Y.- Senior
Sarina Soriano (San Jose, CA) netted a pair of goals to help lead the Caldwell University women's soccer team to a 3-0 win against Dominican College in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference game.
The Cougars improve to 8-6-1 overall and 7-1-1 in the CACC, while the Chargers fall to 1-11-0 and 1-9-0 in conference play.
The teams battled to a scoreless first half with Caldwell holding the edge in shots 5-2 in the first 45 minutes.
The Cougars got the offense going in the second half as freshman
Gianna Klucker (Tamins, Switzerland) put Caldwell on the board in the 57th minute off an assist from junior
Jessica Garrettson (Atco, NJ).
Soriano added to the Cougar lead with a pair of goals in the 60th and 62nd minute to put the game out of reach. Soriano netted her team-best sixth goal of the season as senior
Remi Piccirillo (Toms River, NJ) assisted on both goals to help lead the Cougars to a conference victory.
In net, freshman goalie
Mary Kanzler (East Northport, NY) posted her seventh shutout of the season as she totaled one save in the victory.
The win keeps Caldwell in fifth place in the CACC with 22 points with three key conference match-ups remaining on the schedule as they will face current co-leaders Georgian Court and Holy Family within the next week as well as current sixth place team Felician in their regular season finale.
Caldwell returns to the field on Saturday, October 24 as they host Holy Family University in a key CACC tilt at 11:30 am at Caldwell Field.
