CALDWELL, N.J.- The Caldwell University women's soccer team won their second in a row as they blanked the NYIT Bears 2-0 in a non-conference game.
The Cougars reach the .500 mark as they improve to 6-6-1 overall, while the Bears fall to 5-6-1 on the season.
Caldwell did their damage in the first half as senior
Kelly Folk (Jackson, NJ) netted her fourth goal of the season in the third minute of play. Freshman
Jessica LaConde (Huntington Beach, CA) crossed it from the right side to Folk in front to put the Cougars up 1-0.
The Cougars added to their lead later in the half as senior
Sarina Soriano (San Jose, CA) found the back of the net in the 37
th minute of play. For the game, Caldwell held the edge in shots 7-6 and a 5-1 advantage in shots on goal.
In net, freshman goalie
Mary Kanzler (East Northport, NY) posted one save as she notched her fifth shutout of the season.
The Cougars travel to Chestnut Hill College on Saturday, October 17 for a CACC match at 1 pm
