BLOOMFIELD, N.J.- The Caldwell Women's Volleyball team lost to the Bloomfield College Bears 3-2 in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference match. The Cougars fall to 12-5 overall and 4-2 in CACC play, while the Bears remain atop the North Division at 11-1 overall and 5-0 in conference play.
Caldwell took the first set 25-19 but dropped the next two 27-25 and 25-21. The Cougars forced a deciding set with a 25-19 win in the fourth but fell in the fifth set 15-10.
Sophomore
Katrina Janssen (Seville, Australia) led the Cougars with 21 kills and four blocks, while sophomore
Taryn Auyong (Honolulu, HI) totaled 17 kills and two service aces. Senior
Rachael DiLeonardo (Milton, GA) totaled nine kills, two aces and 22 digs, while sophomore
Jessica Mitchell (Plainfield, IL) led the team with 23 digs. Sophomore
Gabrielle Bennett (San Antonio, TX) netted 29 assists and nine digs, while freshman Jordan
Hoffman (Colorado Springs, CO) chipped in 14 assists.
The Cougars travel to Philadelphia, PA for a tri-match on Saturday, October 3. Caldwell takes on host Chestnut Hill College at 11 am in a CACC match, followed by a non-conference match against NYIT at 1 pm.
