Caldwell Men’s Soccer Defeats Molloy on the Road, 1-0

Box Score
ROCKVILLE CENTRE, N.Y. – Junior defender Evan Marques (Linden, NJ/St. Joseph) scored the game's only goal to lead the Caldwell University men's soccer team to a 1-0 victory over Molloy College in a non-conference game at the Dean Skelos Complex Wednesday night. The win gives the Cougars a 3-2 record on the season, while the Lions drop to 0-3-1.

Marques broke in alone on Molloy goalkeeper Justin Corke in the 32nd minute, putting the ball into the upper left corner of the net for his first career goal in 40 games with the Cougars.  He then helped the Caldwell defense maintain the one-goal lead over the remaining 58 minutes.

Junior goalkeeper Michael Hartmann (Medford, NJ/Shawnee) made seven saves for Caldwell, including five after Marques' goal, to earn his second shutout of the season and sixth of his career. Corke ended up with two saves for Molloy, which out-shot the Cougars, 19-5.

Caldwell hosts Dominican College on Saturday, Sept. 20 in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference game at Caldwell Field. The game starts at 2:00 p.m. and is a part of Caldwell University's homecoming celebration.
