LAFAYETTE HILL, Pa. -- Sophomore forward
Roy Torjman (Tel Aviv, Israel) scored three goals, including two in the second half as Caldwell men's soccer handed Chestnut Hill a 4-2 defeat in a critical CACC matchup at Victory Field on Saturday afternoon.
Trailing, 2-1, Caldwell (6-7-2, 3-4-2 CACC) scored an own goal in the 34th minute to even the match heading into the intermission. Torjman then tallied on an assist from sophomore defender
Bilel Mahamadou (Lyon, France) in the 63rd minute, then converted a PK five minutes later for an insurance marker.
The hat trick was the first by a Cougar since Andre Vieira vs. Staten Island on 9/21/22
Caldwell outshot CHC, 21-9, including 11-6 on goal. Freshman GK Diogo da Silva (Newark, N.J.) made four saves.
The win gives the Cougars 11 points, vaulting them past Dominican (nine points) into eighth place in the CACC table. The top eight teams advance to the CACC Tournament, which begins on Oct. 31 at higher seeds.
CU now holds its postseason fate in its hands, and completes the regular season at Bridgeport on Tuesday.
