LAKEWOOD, N.J. – The Caldwell University women's soccer team suffered a 1-0 loss in double overtime to Georgian Court University in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference game Saturday afternoon at the GCU Soccer Field. The Cougars drop to 8-6-2 overall and 7-3-1 in the conference, while the Lions improve to 10-4-3, 7-3-1 CACC.
After playing 90 scoreless minutes in regulation and 18 minutes of overtime without a goal, the game was decided in the 119th minute. Georgian Court's Elizabeth Kroon scored off an assist from Tori Capestro to end the game in the Lions' favor. The result is the Cougars' second double-overtime loss to a CACC foe following last Saturday's 1-0 defeat to Holy Family University.
Senior goalkeeper
Robin Franchi (Sewell, NJ/Deptford) recorded five saves in goal for Caldwell, while Casey O'Connor stopped four shots for Georgian Court.
Caldwell continues CACC play on Wednesday, Oct. 29 with a home game against Felician College in the Cougars' final regular-season match. Game time is scheduled for 3:00 p.m. at Caldwell Field.
