Cougars Erupt for Five Goals in Victory Over Goldey-Beacom

Box Score
CALDWELL, N.J. – For the second game in a row, freshman forward Haakon Sulheim (Lillehammer, Norway/Lillehammer) scored two goals as the Caldwell College men's soccer team defeated Goldey-Beacom College, 5-0 in the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference opener for both teams. The victory, which also came in the first home game of the season, gives the Cougars a 2-1 record, while the Lightning are now 0-4.

Sulheim opened the scoring in the 24th minute, pouncing on a loose ball in front of the goal that got away from goalkeeper Carlos Meinhard. The score remained 1-0 until two minutes after halftime, when Sulheim dribbled through a pair of defenders and scored from 22 yards out. Sulheim scored a pair of goals, including the game-winner in overtime, in the Cougars' 3-2 victory at West Chester University on Monday.

Less than three minutes later, junior defender Cole Downs (Bricktown, NJ/Brick) received a cross from senior forward Kristopher Olsen-Barr (Brick, Twp./Brick Twp.) and buried a shot into the upper left corner of the goal for a 3-0 lead. Olsen-Barr then headed home a cross from junior midfielder Tim Centineo (Holmdel, NJ/Holmdel) in the 54th minute, and Centineo knocked in a rebound off a free kick from junior defender Kyle Felton (Beachwood, NJ/Toms River South) in the 56th minute.

Sophomore goalkeeper Michael Hartmann (Medford, NJ/Shawnee) made four saves for his first shutout of the season. Meinhard tallied four saves in goal for the Lightning.

The Cougars play a non-conference game at East Stroudsburg University on Tuesday, Sept. 17, beginning at 7:00 p.m.
