PHILADELPHIA, Pa. – The Caldwell College women's tennis team started the 2013 season with a narrow defeat to the University of the Sciences, 5-4 in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference dual Tuesday afternoon at McNeil Field Courts. The Cougars were 3-8 overall last season. The Devils improve to 1-3, 1-0 CACC with the win.

Caldwell earned a point at No. 2 doubles, with junior Gwynne Alden (Spring Lake Heights, NJ/Manasquan) and freshman Nicole Caneo winning 8-0. Alden and Caneo both won their singles matches in straight sets at second and fourth singles, respectively. Freshman Sara Riccardi also won her match at third singles in straight sets.

The Cougars are back in action on Monday, Sept. 16, when the face Molloy College in a non-league dual in Rockville Centre, N.Y.
