Caldwell Volleyball Wins CACC Match at Post, 3-0

WATERBURY, Conn. – The Caldwell College volleyball team swept Post University in three sets, 25-20, 25-19, 25-17 in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference match Wednesday evening at the Drubner Center. The Cougars are now 15-10 overall and 12-3 in the conference, while the Eagles fall to 4-20, 4-11 CACC.

Freshman outside hitter Taylor Zaeske (S. Milwaukee, WI/S. Milwaukee) had four kills, as Caldwell recorded 15 kills in the first set. Zaeske added six kills and freshman middle blocker Taylor Kovach (Oregon, OH/Clay) tallied four in a 25-19 win in the second set. In the third set, the Cougars turned a 10-9 deficit into a 15-10 lead en route to a 25-17 victory and a sweep of the season series with the Eagles. Kovach had four kills in six attempts without an error in the final set.

Zaeske finished with 13 kills and five service aces, with Kovach contributing 10 kills, four total blocks and a .318 hitting percentage. Junior outside hitter Athena Nestoras (Los Angeles, CA/St. Monica Catholic) registered seven kills and 13 digs, while freshman setter Rachel Carpenter (Newark, OH/Newark) tallied 30 assists. Junior libero Jaclyn Del Cid (Bogota, NJ/Bogota) notched 22 digs to spark the defense. Emily Wilman led Post with 11 kills and 10 digs.

The Cougars play Concordia College on Friday, Nov. 1 in a CACC North Division battle. The match starts at 6:00 p.m. in Bronxville, N.Y.
