PHILADELPHIA, Pa. – The Caldwell College volleyball team picked up an important Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference victory on the road with a four-set win over Holy Family University Saturday afternoon at the Campus Center. The Cougars improve to 13-9 overall and 10-2 in the conference, while the Tigers drop to 10-12, 6-6 CACC.
Caldwell took a 25-18 win in the first set, then fell in the second set, 25-22 as the Tigers tied the match at 1-1. In the third set, freshman outside hitter
Taylor Zaeske (S. Milwaukee, WI/S. Milwaukee) had five kills without an error in eight attempts to lead the Cougars to a 25-19 victory and a 2-1 advantage. Holy Family battled in the fourth set, holding off match point twice. But a kill by senior middle blocker
Kasey Bausch (Bellmore, NY/Holy Trinity) gave Caldwell a 27-25 win and a key conference victory on the road. Bausch had six kills in the set, while freshman setter
Rachel Carpenter (Newark, OH/Newark) tallied 12 assists.
Zaeske paced the Cougars with 15 kills, and Bausch finished with 12 kills and a .348 hitting percentage. Carpenter notched her third double-double of the season with 40 assists and 14 digs, while junior outside hitter
Athena Nestoras (Los Angeles, CA/St. Monica Catholic) added 10 kills. Defensively, junior libero
