Cougar Men’s Soccer Blanks Holy Family, 3-0

Box Score
PHILADELPHIA, Pa. – The Caldwell College men's soccer team earned a 3-0 victory over Holy Family University in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference match Saturday afternoon at Tiger Field. The win keeps the Cougars (6-9) in the hunt for a playoff spot with a league record of 3-6, while the Tigers drop to 5-8-1, 5-5 CACC.

Caldwell got on the scoreboard first in the 31st minute, when freshman midfielder Noah Pederson (San Jose, CA/Archbishop Mitty) intercepted a pass intended for goalkeeper Richard Ongaro and scored for a 1-0 lead. Pederson helped the Cougars extend their lead with an assist on a goal by freshman forward Haakon Sulheim (Lillehammer, Norway/Lillehammer) in the 50th minute. Sulheim then put the game out of reach with his team-leading 14th goal off an assist from freshman midfielder Nicolas Prieto (Newark, NJ/Allentown) in the 77th minute. The performance marked Sulheim's fifth multi-goal game this season.

Sophomore goalkeeper Michael Hartmann (Medford, NJ/Shawnee) earned his second shutout of the season with five saves for Caldwell. Ongaro finished with four saves for Holy Family.

The win allowed the Cougars to move into a three-way tie with Nyack College and Bloomfield College for the eighth and final spot in the CACC Tournament. Caldwell hosts Nyack on Tuesday, Oct. 22, beginning at 3:30 p.m. at Caldwell Field.
