Sulheim Nets Hat Trick in Men’s Soccer Victory Over Molloy

Box Score
CALDWELL, N.J. – Freshman forward Haakon Sulheim (Lillehammer, Norway/Lillehammer) scored all three goals for the Caldwell College men's soccer team in a 3-1 triumph over Molloy College Saturday afternoon at Caldwell Field. Sulheim now has 12 goals to lead the Cougars, who end a six-game losing streak and improve to 5-8 on the season. The Lions drop to 4-6-2 with the loss.

Sulheim's first goal came in the 22nd minute, when he knocked in a cross from junior forward Evan Teitelbaum (Holmdel, NJ/Holmdel) for a 1-0 Caldwell lead. Ten minutes later, Sulheim dribbled down the left side and chipped the ball over goalkeeper Justin Corke. He completed the hat trick in the 68th minute on another break down the left side, dribbling through defenders and around Corke before depositing the ball in the goal for a 3-0 lead. Molloy got on the scoreboard with a goal by Jovani Ramos in the 77th minute.

The performance was the second time Sulheim recorded three goals in a game, as he scored three times in a 4-3 overtime win at Concordia College on Sept. 24.

Sophomore goalkeeper Michael Hartmann (Medford, NJ/Shawnee) narrowly missed a shutout, recording six saves for the Cougars. Corke finished with four saves for the Lions.

The Cougars face Dominican College on the road in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference match-up on Wednesday, Oct. 16. The game starts at 3:30 p.m. in Orangeburg, N.Y.
