CALDWELL, N.J. – The Caldwell College men's soccer team defeated Chestnut Hill College, 2-1 for its first Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference victory of the season Saturday afternoon at Caldwell Field. The result gives the Cougars an overall record of 2-4-1, including 1-2 in league play, while the Griffins fall to 3-4-1, 1-2 CACC.

Chestnut Hill took a 1-0 lead in the 34th minute, when a long throw from Anthony O'Connor deflected off a Caldwell defender and into the goal. The Cougars didn't net the equalizer until the 59th minute. Sophomore forward Dylan Ross (Staten Island, NY/St. Peter's) was fouled while dribbling into the Griffins' penalty area, resulting into a penalty kick. Senior forward Facundo Zalazar (Buenos Aires City, Argentina/San Agustin) stepped up and buried the kick, tying the score at 1-1. Then in the 82nd minute, sophomore defender Steve Petrosino (Toms River, NJ/Toms River North) headed home a corner kick from senior defender Brendan Hughes (Lyndhurst, NJ/Lyndhurst) for the game-winning goal.

Freshman goalkeeper Michael Hartmann (Medford, NJ/Shawnee) tallied five saves in goal for Caldwell, which out-shot Chestnut Hill 22-10 for the game. David Sullivan had six saves for the Griffins.

The Cougars play another CACC game on Wednesday, Sept. 26 at Bloomfield College. Game time is set for 7:00 p.m. at Foley Field.
