CALDWELL, N.J. – The Caldwell College women's tennis team picked up its first win of the season with a 5-4 victory over East Stroudsburg University in a non-conference dual Thursday afternoon at the Caldwell College Tennis Courts. The win gives the Cougars a 1-4 record on the season, while the Warriors drop to 0-1.

Caldwell won two of the three doubles matches, with sophomore Briana Gaspich (Brick, NJ/Brick Memorial) and freshman Emily Slater (Cliffwood Beach, NJ/Old Bridge) winning at first doubles, and sophomores Gwynne and Paige Alden (Spring Lake Heights, NJ/Manasquan) winning at second doubles. Slater, Gwynne Alden and Gaspich each earned straight-set victories at first, second and fourth singles, respectively, to clinch the dual.

The Cougars return to the courts on Tuesday, Sept. 25 with a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference dual against Georgian Court University. The first matches begin at 3:30 p.m. at the Caldwell College Tennis Courts.
