Caldwell Men's Soccer Eliminated at Post in PKs

Box Score WATERBURY, Conn. – The Caldwell College men's soccer team battled top-seeded Post University to a scoreless tie through 110 minutes but lost in a shootout in the quarterfinals of the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Tournament Wednesday afternoon at LaMoy Field. The Cougars end their season with a record of 6-10-2, while the Eagles (12-3-4) advance to Friday's semifinals.

Freshman goalkeeper Michael Hartmann (Medford, NJ/Shawnee) kept the potent Eagle offense off the scoreboard through 90 minutes of regulation and two 10-minute overtime periods, making four saves. Freshman midfielder Christian Castro (Clifton, NJ/Clifton) put two shots on goal to lead Caldwell. In the shootout, the Cougars missed their first and third attempts, sandwiched around Castro's successful attempt, and the Eagles converted their first four attempts to advance.

The loss also ended the collegiate careers of seniors D.J. Kafer (Bordentown, NJ/Bordentown), Brian Agostini (N. Caldwell, NJ/West Essex), Brandon Hughes (Lyndhurst, NJ/Lyndhurst), George Mikula (Rockaway, NJ/Morris Knolls), Chris Skarbelis (N. Andover, MD/Leonardtown) and Facundo Zalazar (Buenos Aires City, Argentina/San Agustin).
